This pastel piece is based on a photo I took of a massive Grizzly bear at a wildlife park. I thought it would be a cool idea to get down low for a unique angle. It seemed like a great plan at the time — until he started rambling directly toward me! Even though the fences looked sturdy, looking up at an animal that size is incredibly intimidating. I quickly checked the barriers, hurried up to get my shots, and gave him his space. Capturing his massive scale in pastels was the perfect way to relieve that adrenaline rush!
